Maci Miniature Pinscher Young Female in Duluth, Georgia

My story
MaciFostered in Duluth, GA and will only be adopted within an hour of Duluth, GA.Special medical needs!Secure privacy fenced yard required!4 year old Min Pin/Italian Greyhound Mix female12.5 lbs.Fully vettedMPMR requires all adopters to have their pets up-to-date on vaccinations, to be spayed or neutered, and on heartworm prevention.Maci, nicknamed Moose, piggy, and little miss pumpkin butt, is quite the character. She is an independent little girl who isn't much on cuddling unless it's time to sleep. She loves spending time outdoors to the point we require her to have a home with a secure, privacy-fenced yard since she can escape chain-link fencing. she will also be a great walking or hiking buddy if desired as she does not easily tire. She does bettter in low traffic environments as lots of noise makes her uneasy. A confident dog friend will help her learn the ropes faster and adjust more quickly. She has shown some signs of gravitating towards men but will make friends with anyone who has treats. When outside, Maci seems to think she is part pig and will sit in and roll in mud, so be prepared for queen of digging! This is how she's earned two of her nicknames. Her face and back end turn orange from GA clay.Maci is house trained in her foster home, though as with any dog, we expect a few accidents as she adjusts to a new environment. Thankfully, she has good house manners. She has only two faults, and one of those won't be an issue for many. Maci is not at all a fan of car rides, which is why we've placed the distance limitation on adoption. She is not suitable for someone who travels often. The other is any door going outside, so she will need to be held, put behind a baby gate, or crated (temporarily since she isn't a fan of the crate) if people are coming and going

since she is a runner and is not easily caught. She also moves faster than someone can blink due to the Italian Greyhound in her.Of note medically speaking is that Maci has been diagnosed with inflammatory bowel disease. She is currently on 0.5 MG of Budesonide a day. a 90 day supply costs $82 with shipping as it has to be compounded. Without medication, Maci has shown she would not eat much unless food was of a mashed potato consistency and would often vomit undigested food 30 minutes to 10 hours after eating. It is suspected dry food still bothers her GI tract, so her kibble is turned into a soup. The smaller the kibble pieces, the better. Treats are limited to avoid any flares. Weaning off meds was attempted but did not go well. The vet finds it highly unlikely that she will ever come off the steroid. Grains and fish or fish oil must be avoided in her food. Grains can cause inflammation, and miss Maci cannot stand fish and will go into food refusal mode.Since starting the medication, she has blossomed into a normal dog. she dances, bounces, wiggles, and whines for food and her meds which are hidden in a bit of cheese. She is also starting to play with the other dogs more and is slowly becoming more willing to snuggle near someone. Her personality absolutely shines now that her GI system feels better. If you have any questions, please email them to mpmrgeorgia@gmail.com.If interested in adopting sweet Maci, complete an adoption application at http://tinyurl.com/mpmrapp
